LAKE COUNTRY HOUSE

TAP Architecture designed this Lake Country House with the adjacent lake as our focal point, offering our clients a direct view of the water from every room.

The homeowners initially sought to build a secluded retreat on their 40-acre property – a house with vaulted great rooms, a balcony overlooking the lower level, a screened porch, spherical decks, an open staircase and a mother-in-law suite. In return, we created this architectural design, blending contemporary elegance with Lake Country tradition.

To complement the lake, we laid out a radiating floor plan that follows the contour of the shoreline – a detail you’ll notice in the image of the hallway below. The house has an intimate connection with the water, and you can see it from every room. The floor-to-ceiling windows throughout the home reflect blue skies and emphasize sunlight. Rounded outdoor decks provide an encompassing view of the lake and its remote surrounding landscape.

For this house, we married natural materials with modern touches, including a slate patio, walnut-stained wood, crown molding and reused salvaged flooring throughout.
